Fetch Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centers is seeking an Oncology Assistant to work at our Bonita Springs location.
The veterinary assistant coordinates with the rest of the Fetch team to ensure proper hospital, patient and client care. They work under the direct guidance and supervision of the Practice Manager and are critical to the success of Fetch and its team members.
Essential Functions
- Works closely with experienced technicians, assistants, doctors, and management to provide excellent care of the patients and our clients
- Clean cages, runs, wet tables, counters, and exam rooms daily
- Keep examination and treatment area clean and stocked
- Ensure hospitalized patient litter boxes and cages are free of feces and urine
- Walk patients
- Do laundry
- Wash dishes, maintain kitchen/bathroom areas
- Vacuum and mop floors
- Clean medical instruments post procedures
- Assist with inventory control
- Assist with unpacking and restocking drugs and supplies
Candidates must be detail oriented
- Be knowledgeable about safety standards in all areas of the veterinary hospital
- Proper and safe animal restraint
- Weigh patients
- Perform TPR
- Input data into electronic medical record system
- Perform nail trims and ear cleanings
- Remove bandages
- Prepare patients for discharge from the hospital
- Properly set up fluid bags for IV or SQ administration
- Administer oral medications, SQ fluids, and SQ injections as directed by technicians and doctors
- Assist with procedures and maintaining a timely start to oncology procedures
- Setting up for and cleaning up after procedures and maintaining equipment
- Properly use laboratory equipment
- Assist with radiographs
