Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition in an emergency and critical care setting
  • Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, including triage, wound care, and life-saving interventions
  • Administer medications, treatments, and injections as prescribed by the veterinary team
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies required for emergency procedures
  • Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood work and urinalysis
  • Provide anesthesia monitoring for critical patients
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners about their pets' conditions, treatments, and progress
  • Support the team by keeping the workspace organized and well-stocked
  • Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff in a high-energy environment

Ideal Candidate

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience as a veterinary technician, specifically in emergency or critical care preferred
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary emergency procedures and protocols
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and make quick decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Flexibility to work day and swing shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
